BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum and Governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari, on Thursday declared that the politics in the ruling All Progressives Congress is getting tougher with the emergence of the Redeemed-All Progressives Congress following the break away from the Party by some chieftains of the APC.

Yari, who said this while speaking with State House correspondents in Abuja, however said that things will strengthen out with time saying; “of course, I am worried but it is something the party will handle.”

He explained that wrangling within the APC is expected particularly with the approach of election even as he also said that more of such situations should be expected.

He further said; “You will expect crisis left, right and center, especially in a party with an overwhelming majority because of political interest.”

The governor however said there was no need for panic over the emergence of the faction, adding that the most important thing is that with the emergence of new leadership, everything will be resolved.

He said; “So therefore, no panic. Though I am one of the pillars of APC, if I comment on that I won’t be fair to the leadership of the party. So the party will handle that.”

Yari expressed confidence in the new leadership of the APC led by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to resolve the issues that led to the major pull out by a faction of the party.

Members of the R-APC led by Engr Buba Galadima, on Wednesday announced the formation of the faction of the Party and castigated the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari saying that after more than three years of governance, their hopes have been betrayed and their expectations completely dashed.

The R-APC said the APC has run a rudderless, inept and incompetent government that has failed to deliver good governance to the Nigerian people but instead imposed dictatorship, impunity, abuse of power, complete abdication of constitutional and statutory responsibilities, infidelity to the rule of law and constitutionalism.

Galadima further said of his former party; “It has failed to ensure the security and welfare of our people and elevated nepotism to unacceptable height. The APC has failed to deliver on its key promises to the nation. There is no evidence of any political will to reverse the decline of our party, while leaders who have created these circumstances continue to behave as if Nigerians owe our party votes as a matter of right.”
