Ramadan: Islamic Group Donates Wheelchairs, Food Items To PHC, Correctional Service Centre
BY AHMED TUKUR LAFIA – The Islamic Society of Eggon land (ISE) has donated ten wheelchairs and food items to inmates of the Correctional Centre in Wamba Local Government Area and the Community Health Centers in Nasarawa North senatorial district.
While presenting the items, the General Secretary of the organization, Abdullahi Umar Galle said that the gesture is part of its social responsibility.
Umar Galle said that the wheel chairs is to enable benefitting health centers carry out their duties with ease and bring succor to the management of the health centers and patients, adding that the food items are meant to assist patients in the hospital and inmates in the Correctional Centre during the Ramadan.
He also said that it was out of the magnanimity of the organization to assist the health centers as the government alone cannot continue to shoulder the responsibility.
Umar explained that the exercise is an annual event by the organization to identify with the needy and urged those in places of authority as well as wealthy individuals in the society to show love to the people during the period.
At the Nasarawa Eggon General hospital where three of the wheel chairs were donated, Ibrahim Ogbole, who spoke on behalf of the hospital management thanked the organization and promised that the items will be judiciously put to use.
One of the patients in the hospital who received beverages for Ramadan, Ali Mohammed expressed joy for the gift, saying that the items will assist him tremendously in this trying times.
While Nasarawa Eggon General hospital got three wheel chairs, the Primary Health Care Centre, Gidan Waya and PHC Nasarawa Eggon town got one each just as two private hospitals in Nasarawa Eggon also got one each and Akwanga General hospital also got three of the chairs.
At the Wamba Correctional Centre, the Controller in-charge, Ibrahim Epramous who received the items on behalf of the Centre, called on other organization to emulate the gesture of the organsation.
He assured that the items will be used for the inmates, stressing that any officer caught diverting the food items will be severely deal with.
The items include two cartoons of dried fish, five bags of rice, two bags of millet, two 50 liter of red and groundnut oil, bags of sugar and salt among others.
