Rivers: Activities Of SA-Ibas Have Set State On A Dangerous Path – Secondus

Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, has decried the actions so far taken by Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, stressing that they have set the State on a keg of gunpowder and dangerous path.

Secondus, who stated this in his Easter message, said he weeps for Rivers State, and praised the Ijaw nation for their restraint.

He urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resist misguided advice and restore Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who has the mandate of the people.

The message which was contained in a statement by Ike Abonyi, his Special Adviser on Media, said that sadly, Rivers State has found itself on the ugly side of history over the control of its Resources and the state by one man.

In the words of Secondus; “The President should be guided by the voice of reason by restoring Governor Similaya Fubara, who has the mandate of the people.

                                                             

“The activities of the Sole Administrator have set Rivers State on a keg of gunpowder, and I weep for my state.

“My special appreciation goes to the Ijaw nation, its leaders and people, the indisputable fourth largest ethnic group in Nigeria with over 30 LGAs across seven states, for managing the provocations,” he said.

Secondus also urged Christians to embody Christ’s love and piety., saying; “Easter period reminds us of brotherly love, peaceful co-existence, tolerance, honesty, humility, justice, equity and fairness to all without discrimination as contained in the Scriptures”.

Secondus statement is coming few days after the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight, extended an invite to Vice Admiral Ibas (retd) to appear before it for an interactive session regarding the affairs of the state.

President Tinubu had on March 18, 2025, declared a state of emergency in Rivers State and the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy and members of the State House of Assembly following what he described as the prolonged political crisis in the state. And appointed Vice Admiral Ibas (retd) as the Sole Administrator of the state.
