Rivers State ‘Red Biro’ Firmly In My Custody – Gov Fubara
BY ONYEKACHUKWU IBEZIM – Already considered in some quarters as embattled in the current crisis rocking Rivers State, Governor Similanayi Fubara, says there is no cause for alarm as the State’s precious ‘Red Biro’ remains firmly in his custody as the Chief Executive of the oil-rich state.
Accordingly, he has boasted that those fighting him are engaged in a lost battle and enterprise because their dream of snatching the red biro away from him can never materialise.
Sir Fubara, who was obviously referring to his signatory authority as the Rivers State’s Executive Governor, assured the people of not in anyway being pretentious about his resolve and determination to deliver on quality leadership to them during his tenure in the Government House.
Speaking at the Crossover night church service at St Paul’s Archdeaconry Parish in Opobo in Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of the State, Governor Fubara said those fighting his administration have failed in their unfortunate desire to dampen the spirit of Rivers people and forcefully truncate the pace of development
The Governor charged Rivers people to remain focused and shun being disheartened over the current crisis, pledging that he was ready to give his best efforts successfully steering the ship and bringing the much desired democracy dividends to the state and its residents.
He told the cheering congregants thus; “What they want is this red biro but it is still with me. We are the winners because we are still signing with the red biro. As long as we are signing with the red biro, development will continue in Rivers State”.
Maintaining that the foundation of his administration was laid solidly in God, whose infinite mercies and loving kindness would give him the grace to complete the process of building a new Rivers state, Governor Fubara further assured the people that no amount of crisis would distract the government from arriving successfully at its targeted destination.
Also, he explained that given the designed development agenda and progress level planned for the new year 2024, the administration is emboldened to work relentlessly for the overall good of Rivers state and its people.
Besides commending Rivers people for their unwavering support and also truly believing in a better Rivers State in the years ahead, Sir Fubara urged them to trust the decisions he takes, stressing that Rivers State will surely come out stronger from the present crisis.
Similarly, the Governor appreciated President Bola Tinubu for his fatherly intervention in restoring peace in Rivers State, saying; “Like I keep saying, it takes a responsible man to be a father. He acted like a father.
“On our part, we will continue to give him all the necessary support because if he does not succeed in Rivers State, he will not succeed as a president.
“So, as a state, we will continue to give him every support. We are not pretenders. Our support is genuine and it is to uplift his programmes. Our sacrifices are part of the support,” he added.
Delivering his sermon on the 2024 Theme; “I will never forget you,” Bishop of the Diocese of Niger Delta, Right Reverend Emmanuel Oko-Jaja assured that God will surely restore Nigeria to its expected height of glory and stable economy.
He said it is God’s will not to disappoint those who put their trust in him in year 2024 because they will enjoy his providence, and guidance.
The clergyman further declared that God would readily turn every events in the lives of His people into promotion; keeping them far away from evil, confusion and the spirit of wondering if only they would obey Him and keep His commandments.
