Following the proposed Rural Grazing Area (RUGA) settlements in different states of the federation by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government, the Youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has submitted a proposal for a draft bill for the federation of South East states of Abia, Anambra , Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo.

National President of the Ohanaeze Youth wing, Mr Arthur Obiora, who announced this on Monday said that in view of the socio-political and structural conflicts in Nigeria, it has become necessary for Nigeria to go back to the regional system with a level of autonomy for the federating regions.

He said the draft bill has already been sent to all state Houses of Assembly in the South East geo-political zone for deliberation and passage.

The Youth wing of Ohanaeze therefore called on Igbos in Delta and Rivers states that desire to join the federation to feel free to do so without let or hindrance.

According to him; “This will ensure faster development of the country and make the rat race for the control of the centre less attractive. We hope the bill would be passed and other parts of Nigeria would do the same.

In his own remarks, deputy spokesman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chuks Ibegbu said that there is nothing wrong with the draft, adding that it is better that the issue is addressed for the greater future of Nigeria.
