Scores Escape As Fire Engulfs Popular Fitness Centre In Abuja
A popular fitness Hub in located in Gwarinpa District of the Federal Capital City, on Wednesday got engulfed with substantial damage to the complex.
It was gathered that some staff of the Fitness hub and registered members of the Hub numbering about 50 escaped the fire as they were able to successfully moved out of the centre.
The cause of the fire which engulfed the Eco Fitness Centre which witnessed a rapid spread of the fire before emergency responders arrived the hub was not immediately known.
However, videos circulating on social media showed smoke billowing from the Eco Fitness Hub, as an eyewitness said that the fire had been burning for over an hour before emergency responders arrived.
According to the witness, multiple calls were made to the Federal Fire Service, but the service allegedly took over an hour to respond.
The fire was already intense and spreading to a neighboring building before the time firefighters arrived, as the eye witness alleged that the delay in responding by the Firefighters may have led to substantial destruction.
While the Federal Fire Service eventually arrived the scene, concerned netizens’ voiced frustration over the delay, suggesting that much of the property housing the fitness centre could have been saved if they had responded faster.
