Senate Confirms Ifeanyi Ubah’s Demise @ 53
Billionaire Nigerian Senator and an All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, is dead.
Senate spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu, who confirmed the news on Saturday, however did not give details of the circumstances surrounding his passage.
But a competent source disclosed that the lawmaker, who represented Anambra South Senatorial District in the Red Chamber, had flown to London, United Kingdom for an operation.
According to the source, the politician cum businessman departed Nigeria for the UK just two days ago for what he described as a “minor surgery”.
Confirming the sad news, the source, considered a close ally of the lawmaker, had said; “Yes, he is dead. This is quite shocking to us.”.
Offering further information on the unfortunate development, the source said; “We are now waiting for the family to issue an official statement. We spoke to him three times yesterday, before he went into the theatre for the operation.”
Until his death, the 53-year-old oil magnet was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Capital Oil.
He was first elected into the Senate under the platform of Young Peoples Party (YPP) in 2019 and was re-elected in 2023 under the same party before his eventual defection to the ruling APC.
Forefront News recalled that in September 2022, the Senator narrowly escaped an assassination attempt when gunmen attacked his convoy on their way to Nnewi in Enugwu-Ukwu in Anambra State.
In the process, at least five persons, including two policemen, died from gun shots while he was able to survive the attack because of his bulletproof vehicle.
