BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – President of the Nigerian Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has applauded President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their resounding victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

Senator Lawan said, “The judgment of the Tribunal has again put a judicial seal on the mandate freely given to the president by the Nigerian people in the February 23 presidential election.”

The Senate President said in a statement that the President must accept the affirmation of his election as a reminder of the confidence of Nigerians in his capacity to continue to lead the country towards its manifest destiny of greatness.

Signed by Ola Awoniyi, Special Adviser on Media to President of the Senate, the statement said; “The Nigerian people have great expectations from the Next Level Agenda of the President” assuring that the National Assembly will fully cooperate with the Executive in pursuing the best interest of Nigerians.”

Senator Lawan also lauded the petitioners for using the judicial window prescribed by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to seek redress for their grievances, urging them to join hands with the APC administration and the Nigerian people to deliver on the important task of nation-building.

The Tribunal on Wednesday dismissed the petition by the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in its entirety.
