Senate President Condemns Bandits’ Attack On Emir Of Potiskum

BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJAPresident of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has condemned the recent gun attack in Kaduna on the convoy of the Emir of Potiskum, Yobe State, Alhaji Umaru Bubaram.

Some unknown gunmen had on Tuesday night attacked the convoy of the Emir around Maraban Jos on Kaduna-Zaria road, killing some of the Emir’s aides and leaving others seriously injured.

Senator Lawan, who expressed regrets at the unfortunate incident, extended his condolence to the revered Emir and the families of those killed in the attack.

Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media, Ola Awoniyi, the Senate President also prayed for speedy recovery of the Emir and others who were injured by the gunmen.

He called on the security agencies to ensure that everyone with a hand in the heinous crime is brought to justice.

Similarly, Senator Lawan also challenged on the security agencies to ensure the quick rescue of all those abducted during the attack.

Reports hinted that the Emir, Alhaji Bubaram was on an official tour of traditional institutions across Northern Nigeria in preparation for the official commissioning of Potiskum Central Mosque slated to take place on Saturday, January 18, 2020.

He is said to have come under the bandits’ attack on his way to Zaria in Kaduna State. The incident occurred at about 2:00 am on Wednesday around Fandatio village, close to Maraban Jos.
