Why Senator Misau Is At War With IGP

BY SEGUN ADEBAYO, ABUJA – Embattled Senator Isa Hamma Misau may have misfired in his current war against the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Kpotun Idris, insiders has confirmed.

Emerging facts indicated that the decision to take on the IGP and the Police high command was hatched as a case of skilful dancer responding to experts manipulations of the talking drums by the master drummer.

Forefront sources hinted that Senator Misau may have been dragged into the fray as the arrow-head of a war to settle scores by his new political godfather in the Senate.

According to a competent source, the Senate leadership had moved to compromise the Police top brass when investigations were on-going into the alleged tempering with the Senate Standing Rules that paved way for the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki and Senator Ike Ekweremadu as President and Deputy President of the Senate respectively. Regrettably, it was a move that was rebuffed by the Police hierarchy which insisted on laid down rules to the chagrin of the lawmakers.

With the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) discharging and acquitting the Senate President, Bukola Saraki from the case of false assets declaration, other demands equally brought forward by the lawmakers were similarly turned down by the Police in the overall interest of Mr President and the country in general.

At this stage, a disturbed Senate leadership decided to unleash one of their ‘’attack dogs” on the unsuspecting IGP with the intention to hit back at Mr President for what sources described as ‘intransigence’.

The mantle fell on Senator Misau, who before then was the merry-go-between the Senate and the Police high command and believing that with his understanding of the system and workings of the police, the Bauchi State lawmaker got the mandate to deliver on this assignment with political dispatch.

Accordingly, National Assembly insiders said Senator Misau went for the kill, attempting to pull down the entire institution he once served in the same manner a member of the House of Representatives currently on suspension went after his colleagues.

To impress his principals, Senator Misau, who bore a different name as Mohammed Isa Hamma during his service years in the Police Force, went all out to say both real and untruth to justify his assignment.

It was gathered that the Senate leadership unfortunately found out later that it made a huge mistake assigning such delicate job to a ex-Police officer who carries lots of baggage with him considering the unfolding revelations in the public space.

More disturbing to the Senate leadership is the revelation that Senator Misau, who was formerly known as DSP Mohammed Isa Hamma, was a serial offender in the Police whose acts of indiscipline attracted several warnings and queries.

Documents available to Forefront showed that among the queries had to do with his refusal to attend a Junior Command Course at the Police Staff College Jos and absenteeism from duty.

Interestingly, the documents indicated that Isah Hamman (Misau) was in several instances found guilty of disobedience of lawful Order without good and sufficient cause; discreditable conduct prejudicial to Service discipline; negligence of duty; and numerous acts of misbehaviour.
