Senator Moro’s Bigotry, Duplicity Are Classical – Group Says

The Alia Consolidation Core Team (Benue- ACCT), has declared that it was time for Senator Abba Moro to adopt integrity over opportunism and to hold himself answerable to the very fundamentals he claims to represent.

The Team noted that Senator Moro’s bigotry and duplicity has become so glaring following his sustained role of a self-appointed moral arbiter while at the same time turning a blind eye to abuses against his own party.

It particularly stressed that Moro’s silence in the injustice meted out to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan speaks volumes as it clearly suggested that his concern for what he termed justice is selective and contingent on his political convenience.

The Alia’s Consolidation Core Team noted that in contrast, Senator Moro remained inexplicably silent in the face of the dragging, suppression and consequent suspension slammed on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a member of his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The group in a statement on Friday, March 7, 2025, said that Senator Moro’s intrusion in the affairs of the Benue State House of Assembly, where he carelessly criticized the removal of the Chief Judge and the suspension of 13 members of the Assembly, signified a man who thrives on squabble rather than genuine concern for governance.

The statement signed by Comrade Didacus Secivir Iorver, Secretary of the Team, stressed that the excitement expressed by Moro in meddling in state matters suggested questions about his motivations.

In the words of Iorver; “Suffice to enquire; was it genuinely about justice; was it a malicious way to get at the state leadership as usual or merely a performance to bolster his political stature?

“This glaring double standard reveals a troubling paradox in his principles. If he was so quick to lash out at perceived injustices in Benue, why has he chosen to ignore an egregious act against one of his own?

The ruthless retribution meted out to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, by stripping her of entitlements and privileges without just cause, is a conspicuous aggression on democratic principles and the rights of representatives.

The Team questioned what constituted a crime that was extreme enough to necessitate such draconian measures against a voice elected by the people.

It further said that Moro’s passivity not only impairs the integrity of the Senate but also weakens the absolute foundation of the PDP, which claims to promote the rights of its members.

The Team further said; “His hesitation to speak out against this prejudice is a sellout of the ideals he proclaims to uphold.

In the grandiose design, Moro’s behaviour illustrates a disturbing trend among political leaders who prioritize personal and party interests over the principles of democracy and justice.

“His tight-lipped posture on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension accentuates a cynical political strategy, one that prioritizes silence over accountability.

“If he continues down this path, he defies alienating not just his party members but also the constituents who expect their leaders to stand firm against injustice, not withstanding the political significance.
