Sole Accident Kills 6, Injures 6 In Delta

No less than six lives were lost at the weekend in a sole vehicular accident around the Obasanjo Farms area of the Ughelli-Asaba Expressway in Delta State.

Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the State, Ibrahim Abubakar, who confirmed the incident, also said six other persons sustained various degrees of injuries in the mishap.

According to reports, four victims of the accident that involved a Toyota bus with registration number, AKD596 GE died on the spot while the other two gave up ghosts at a hospital they were rushed to.

It was gathered that the vehicle was conveying 18 passengers who were returning to Warri from Anambra state where they attended a burial ceremony when the accident occurred.

Eyewitness accounts said the vehicle summersault several times after one of the automobile tires burst, resulting in the driver losing control.

Another source hinted that the injured were taken to the General Hospital in Ogwashi Uku from where they were moved to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba for further medical attention.

The FRSC Sector Commander, Ibrahim Abubakar, however, advised motorists against overspeeding on the highways. – With agency reports
