Sole Administrator Of Rivers State Issues Directive To LG Heads
The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), has directed Heads of Local Government Administration (HLGA) in the State to submit detailed reports of their Councils to the State Ministry of Local Government Affairs.
The directive was contained in a memo dated March 24, 2025, signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dame Dr. Itong Awani.
The memo which was addressed to all heads of the 23 local government councils, stressed the need for timely compliance, adding that the reports must follow a structured template and to be submitted to the ministry latest by today, (Wednesday), March 26, 2025.
The memo further said that the required submission template included; introduction, the Council’s functions, a breakdown of staff by cadre, revenue sources, and details of projects undertaken in the past two years.
It also requested for a summary of achievements, challenges faced by the council, and recommendations for improvement.
The Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibas (retd) was appointed following the declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers State on March 18, 2025, and the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy and members of the State House of Assembly for six months by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
