Some APC Big Wigs Will Soon Defect To PDP – Saraki
Former President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has hinted that some chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that are not happy with the going-on in their party will soon defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Saraki, a national leader of the PDP and former governor of Kwara State who announced this when he featured on Arise Television current Affairs programme on Tuesday, said that the defection of the top APC chieftains would take place before the 2023 general elections.
He said that a lot of the APC chieftains are not only dissatisfied with happenings within their party but the ugly situation of things in the country particularly insecurity and the battered economy which the APC-led government have shown lack of capacity to manage.
In the words of Saraki; “Bigwigs do not defect at an early stage. If you remember, I said a couple of times that there were certain governors that we knew that are going to leave and they have left. So, we were not surprised.
“The good news is that, we are expecting defections from the ruling party. If you follow politics, you will understand that some of the big players don’t defect early; they defect very late in the game; so just keep watching.
“Nigerians should not be surprised when they begin to see some defections from the ruling party just like the PDP witnessed the defection of some chieftains to the ruling APC”.
Saraki explained that the reason for the awaiting defection of the APC big wigs is as a result of the mismanaged Party Primaries they conducted in more than two-thirds of the states which failed to meet with the satisfaction of most members of the party.
“The APC is in serious crisis and they do not know how to resolve it and as expected, many of their members are aggrieved and desirous to leave. I can assure you that very soon, you will start to witness defection of the APC big wigs into the PDP. It would happen soon,” he said.
