Suicide Bombings Claim 8 In Maiduguri
No fewer than eight people were feared dead, including five suicide bombers, following multiple bomb explosions that rocked Maiduguri, the Borno State capital in the early hours of Wednesday.
The bomb explosions occurred in three locations around Muna Garage area of the capital city. The first incident occurred at 4am at Muna Kumbori, a host community housing no fewer than 199 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). Three of the suicide bombers were killed and two other people.
The second bomb explosion occurred at Muna Dagalti that was attacked by a suicide bomber. The bomber and another person were killed. The third occurred at Muna Bulaya. Only the bomber was killed.
In all, a total of five bombers were killed, with three innocent persons. No fewer than 20 people were treated for various degrees of injuries at the state specialist hospital. Corpses of the dead have been deposited in the mortuary.
Maiduguri is known for various suicide bombings by Boko Haram. No fewer than 100,000 have been killed since 2009 when the Islamic militant group commenced suicide attacks.
