The Supreme Court on Friday, January 12, 2024 affirmed Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the duly elected governor of Lagos State.
The Court confirmed the judgement of the Court of Appeal Lagos which dismissed the appeal of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party (LP), for lacking in merit.
In the lead judgement prepared by Justice Garba Lawal, the apex Court held that Sanwo-Olu was validly elected as the governor of Lagos State.
The unanimous judgement of the trial justices, made up of Justices Inyang Okoro, Emmanuel Agim, Uwani Abba-aji, Adamu Jauro, the Supreme Court declared that the petition by Rhode-Vivour was a gross abuse of court process.
