Terrorists believed to have abducted six Islamic clerics that participated in the organised prayers for the second term of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Zamfara State, have reportedly demanded N30 million ransom for their release.
It was not however, not clear if the N30 million is per individual or for the six clerics as a whole.
The Islamic clerics were allegedly kidnapped shortly after attending a special prayer session organised for President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This was disclosed by Conflict reporter D English Alhaji in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
He said that the six Sheikhs were abducted after attending the prayer session organised by the Director-General of the APC campaign and senator representing Zamfara West, Abdulaziz Yari, adding that the terrorists are now demanding N30 million as ransom for the release of the clerics.
According to D English Alhaji; “These are the six Sheikhs that were abducted by bandits in Zamfara after attending special prayers session for Tinubu and APC, organised by the DG campaign for APC, Sen. Abdulaziz Yari.
“Bandits are now demanding N30 million ransom for their release,” he stated.
The reported abduction comes amid continued security concerns in parts of Zamfara, where terrorist and bandit attacks and kidnappings have remained a major challenge.
The Zamfara State Government, security agencies, particularly the Nigeria police are yet to issue an official statement confirming the abduction and demand for ransom.
