The Polarisation Of Kaduna State By El-Rufai Must Be Stopped – Hon. Adamu

The Director of Media of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign in Kaduna State, Hon. Saidu Adamu, has declared that the deliberate attempt by Governor Nasir El-Rufai to polarize the people of the State along religious and ethnic divide must be resisted and stopped by every means possible.

Hon. Adamu, who stated this shortly after his release from detention following his arrest by the Department of State Security Service, said if any genuine and committed leader has the interest of Nigeria and Kaduna State in particular at heart, it would be silly of such a person to ever think of floating a Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian ticket, particularly in State like Kaduna that has all forms of religions.

He said that taking a critical look at what is happening in the country, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has gotten itself enmeshed in unnecessary controversy and now rightly being perceived as a religious bigot as a result of the fact that they wanted power at all cost and by every means without considering the peace and welfare of the people by adopting a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

According to Adamu; “Literally, they are saying the Christian votes didn’t matter. Islam recognized every individual religion including the pagans.

“A situation whereby, you take advantage because of majority against other minorities is un-Islamic, unfair, unjust and against the Nigerian constitutional.

“If El-Rufai is sincere, If what he claimed he has done Kaduna State people at the end of eight years cannot stand tall and speak for him, it means that he has been cheating, lying, disagreeing and disenfranchising the people and it is payback time,” he said.

The four term commissioner for Information in Kaduna State, said that he was arrested by the DSS on the orders of Governor El-Rufai over allegation of campaigning against his Muslim-Muslim ticket (MMT) and against the governorship candidate of the APC in the State, Senator Uba Sani and his running mate, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe.

Adamu said that the PDP is critical against the Muslim-Muslim Ticket in Kaduna State because it desired and needed peace, stressing that as a Muslim, he has not seen in the holy Quran where it is stated that only Muslims should be leaders, stressing that; “what God wants in leadership is equity, fairness and justice, regardless of whatever religion you belong”.
Adamu said that as a devout Muslim, who does not womanise, does not drink alcohol, does not backstab or backslide and observes his five daily prayers, he will continue to preach against the Muslim-Muslim ticket and would never stop talking about it.

He further said; “Islam enjoins us to be our neighbours and brothers’ keepers. It is not talking about brother in Islam alone. And nowhere in the Quran or in Hadith that God says He is going to promote only Muslims to be leaders. Capital No!
“I was four times former commissioner for Information in the State at a stretch. I am aware of what happened in the past, most especially after the election of former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 in the state.

“There was serious crisis which turned out to be between Muslims and Christians. A lot of people lost their lives and properties, and we started living like Sudan with Muslims and Christians in the North and South of the state respectively. Kaduna belongs to all of us,” he said.
Adamu assured that his arrest and detention will not in any way scare or stop him from campaigning against the evil deeds of Governor El-Rufai, whom he noted dealt with the people unjustly, stressing that all he (Adamu) stands for is about humanity and for the overall interest of the people of Kaduna state.

He further said; “For the past 8 years, over 60,000 civil servants were sacked and do you know the worst part of it, there was no payment of gratuity or pension. El-Rufai denied them. That is why we have lots of criminals in Kaduna state because, people were rendered jobless, hopeless, useless, yet, the school fees of their children were increased.

“El-Rufai destroyed people’s sources of legitimate earnings. So many markets, shops, houses were demolished. El-Rufai as a propagator of Muslim-Muslim ticket, destroyed about 30 Mosques in Kaduna. Demolished Mosque around KASU and replace it with the billboard of APC.
“The PDP administration established KASU and the fees was between N18000 and N30,000 but, El-Rufai increased it to a minimum of N150,000 per annum for the same parents he sacked from work. But, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), established by the Late Sardauna in the 1960s is still less than N50,000. Funny enough, he has not built any Mosque himself”.

“Unfortunately, he is now using the same Imams he demolished their mosques to come and preach Muslim-Muslim ticket so that his boy, Uba Sani will come and continue from where he stopped.

The question that must be asked by the people of Kaduna State remains, why El-Rufai is so desirous and interested in creating division in the State and why is he against peaceful coexistence of the people? The people must be guided against the evil plot against them by El-Rufai,” he stressed.
