There Are Subterranean Moves To Convert PDP Into An Arm Of APC – Party Chieftain Raises Alarm

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, has declared that the acting National Chairman of the Party is occupying the position unlawfully and against the spirit and letters of the constitution of the PDP.

Ologbondiyan, who is the immediate past National Publicity Secretary of the Party, also said that there are subterranean moves and efforts by some forces within to transform the PDP into a subsidiary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ologbondiyan, who stated these when he featured on Arise Television programme ‘Morning Show’ on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, explained that while the acting National Chairman, Damagum hails from the Northeast, there is a strong desire within the Northcentral geo-political zone for the National Chairmanship position to revert to their area in line with the zoning arrangement of the PDP.

He said that some external influences in collaboration with some officers and highly placed members of the PDP are working to undermine the party.

In the words of Ologbondiyan; “Like a proverb said, if there is no spilt on the wall, the lizard can’t come in, so definitely there will be issues in the party, but how much these issues are managed is one side, and how external influences come into them to finally disrupt and reduce the party to nothing else is also there.

“There are issues in the party. In the case of the National Chairman, the Northcentral believes that the position should return to them. Damagum is from the Northeast, and he is occupying that position unlawfully.

“No matter how long he continues to stay there, Damagum is staying there illegitimately and unlawfully and he knows it and it is an issue in the party,” he stressed.
