Three of the abducted passengers of the Abuja-Kaduna-bound train that was attacked in March regained their freedom on Monday.

The three freed train passengers included one female and two males, who are said to have reunited with members of their families.

Their release came barely 24 hours after the terrorists released a disturbing video where their victims were seen being flogged with sticks and other objects.

It could however not be confirmed if any ransom was paid before the release of the three victims.

Eleven other passengers that were released shortly after the attack on Kuje Correctional Centre by the terrorists, during which their members that were captured and detained were set free, said one hundred million Naira was paid for each of them before they were set free.

When contacted to confirm the release of the three victims, the Media consultant to Sheik Abubakar Gum, and the Publisher of Kaduna-based Desert Herald, Mr. Tukur Mamu, said their release was true, adding however that he was not part of the negotiation that led to their release.

Mamu said; “Yes three victims have been released, a female and two male”
