President Bola Tinubu has nominated Mr. Louis Odion and Kano-born grassroots politician Ummusalma Isiyaku Rabiu as Executive Commissioners of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).
This was contained in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, who said that Odion will serve as Executive Commissioner, Operations, while Rabiu will oversee Corporate Services.
The appointments are however, subject to confirmation by the Senate in line with the provisions of the FCCPC Act, 2018.
Odion, a veteran journalist from Edo State, was Senior Technical Assistant to former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Media and also served as Commissioner for Information in Edo State.
He holds two master’s degrees — one in Modern War Studies from the University of Buckingham, UK, and another in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos.
Similarly, Rabiu, 35, is the founder of the Usir Foundation, a non-profit organisation focused on education, skills development, and humanitarian aid for underprivileged communities.
With a degree in Business Administration, Rabiu has been an advocate for inclusive governance and political participation of women and youth in Kano State.
