BY EDMOND ODOK – Amid the scathing criticisms from many stakeholders, President Bola Tinubu has withdrawn the nomination of Engineer Imam Kashim Imam as the Board Chairman of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA).

Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale said on Thursday that President’s directive on the above-mentioned nomination takes effect immediately.

He however explained that “All other appointments to the Board and Executive Management team of FERMA are not affected by this directive.”

Indeed, many Nigerians had raised questions over the appointment of 24-year-old Imam Ibrahim Kashim Imam as the Board Chairman of FERMA.

Though a first-class graduate of Mechanical Engineering from Brighton University, United Kingdom (UK), Imam, who completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme in August 2022, came under fire for lacking the requisite experience to manage FERMA

Others, while criticising the appointment of Imam, son of a popular Borno politician, Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, insisted that having a fresh graduate with no work experience to manage such an important position is “absolutely ill-advised.”
