President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, directed the Minister of Finance, Mr Wale Edun, to come up with the cost Implications on the new minimum wage within 48 hours.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mr. Mohammed Idris, who disclosed this while briefing State House Correspondents after a meeting of the negotiation team with the President at Aso Rock, said that all the parties to the negotiation of the new minimum wage would work together with the organised labour to present a new minimum wage for Nigerians in one week.
According to Idris; “All of us will work together assiduously within the next one week to ensure that we have a new wage for Nigeria that is acceptable, sustainable and also realistic”.
The organised Labour led by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), on Tuesday, suspended their nationwide indefinite strike by one week to allow for further negotiations with the Federal Government.
