Tinubu Is Running Nigeria With Propaganda Like Buhari – Lamido Says

Former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over alleged adoption and use propaganda as a tool for running his administration.

This was as he particularly faulted President Tinubu’s loan requests, stressing that “what the federal government is telling Nigerians is different from what it is executing.”

While making specific reference to the implementation of the 2024 federal budget, Lamido said that it was difficult to understand the arithmetic being bandied before Nigerians.

In his words; “If Nigerians are being told the truth, then there is nothing wrong with that, but it is difficult to understand how a government that budgeted N30tn, generated N50tn and yet, making a request for a loan when there is a surplus of N20tn”.

Lamido, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), noted that the ‘propagandist approach to governance’ was started by former President Muhammadu Buhari, in order to conceal the true situation of the country from Nigerians.

Lamido, who was also a former minister of Foreign Affairs in the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, stressed that such action amounts to a deliberate lack of transparency, adding that Nigerians are presently left in the dark concerning the affairs of their country.

The former governor of Jigawa State, who stated these during an interview with the BBC Hausa service program ‘Gane Mini Hanya’, said this style of approach to governance adopted by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administrations is a departure from what Nigerians witnessed during the reign of the PDP.

Lamido further said; “Buhari’s and Tinubu’s governments are not being transparent with Nigerians unlike during the time when PDP was in power where everything was transparent and open to all Nigerians.

“But with the coming of Buhari, deception and propaganda became tools for running the government”.

Lamido stressed that the recklessness and clear-cut selfishness being practiced by the present administration has never happened in any part of the world, adding that unfortunately, there are some Nigerians that are supporting it.

He further said; “Visit the social media and see how APC is being criticised, being referred to as calamity, yet you find some protecting it”.
