BY UBON EKANEM, CALABAR – The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday stormed Cross River State in continuation of his nationwide campaign tour with the promise to make it a viable and prosperous economic hub going forward.

Tinubu said after winning the February 25 presidential election, his administration will convert Cross River into a hub of tourism, adding; “We will make the water surroundings and the Atlantic of Cross River State better than Florida. Money will come in, and this state will become a wonder of tourism in Nigeria. We keep our promises!

“We mean what we say. When we took over in Lagos, we said what we would do in Lagos, and we did it. Today Lagos is exceptionally rich and functional.”

He said the APC administration, under his watch, will dredge the seaward navigational route of the Calabar Sea Port as part of the incentives to attract thriving businesses and investments into the South South state.

Addressing the teeming crowd of party supporters and well-wishers at the U J Esuene Stadium in Calabar, Asiwaju Tinubu, surrounded by Cross River Governor Benedict Ayade and Senator Kashim Shettima, alongside senior party members, said his priority attention in Cross River will be dredging the Calabar port to scale up maritime economic activities within its catchment area.

He cautioned the people against voting for the PDP given its obvious mismanagement of the resources of the state and nation, adding; “Don’t mind them with their lies of 16 years, they cannot even provide electricity to roast corn. They kept lying; the electricity that is generated from our hydro, they don’t know how to do it.”

The APC flag bearer, who was decked in an Efik traditional attire of wrapper and long tail shirt to match, praised the people for their patience in awaiting his late arrival to the State, assuring them that such demonstrable show of love and belief in him would not be treated with levity.

He also singled out for commendation Senator John Owan Enoh and Mary Egbere, who sought judicial redress after losing out in the State governorship primaries, but upon his intervention, withdrew their cases from court out of respect for him and the ruling party

The former Lagos State Governor assured them of the party’s patronage in terms of federal appointments as a demonstration of respect for those who bow to party supremacy as an important factor in political party management

Asiwaju Tinubu further said a new wind of change is currently blowing across the country because the time has come for Nigerians to reap the benefits of resilience in the face of hardship, stressing that his economic development blueprint is designed with enough welfare packages to lift the people out of hopelessness and poverty.

The APC candidate’s entourage to the State included his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, Director General of APC Presidential Campaign Organization (PCO) and Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong as well as other top party bigwigs across the country.
