Tinubu To Security Chiefs – There Must Be A Clearing House Henceforth

• Says working at cross purposes no longer condoned

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday, June 1, 2023, in very clear terms, told the nation’s security chiefs that henceforth, there must be a clearing house going forward.

Tinubu, who stated this at a meeting with the security chiefs at State House, Aso Villa, specifically read the riot act to the military Service Chiefs and other heads of Security organisations, warning that a situation where security agencies work at cross purposes will no longer be condoned going forward.

The President also told the security chiefs that he would not in any material particular accept a situation in which the nation’s fortunes kept declining emphasising that; “in its trajectory, national security has to be coordinated”.

He specifically directed that the welfare of troops must be paramount henceforth.

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Babagana Mungonu (retd), who briefed State House Correspondents shortly after a two-hour meeting between the president and the security chiefs, said President Tinubu directed that all security agencies must work to achieve one single purpose.

Mongonu also quoted President Tinubu as saying; “Working at cross purposes and colliding with each other is not something that he will condone”.

The NSA further said; “He has made it very, very clear that all the security agencies must comply with the demands of coordination, with the demands of frequent consultations and also timely reports which must be acted on.”

He said that Tinubu also mandated the security agencies to come up with a blueprint, declaring that he did not have the luxury of time, adding that whatever changes had to be made would be made as soon as possible.

Mongonu also said that the President has decided that whatever ventures the armed forces are going to be engaged in henceforth, they must carry along those operatives in the theatre.

In the words of the President as related by the NSA; “They must be well fed, well kitted, motivated and given all that they require”.
