BY EDMOND ODOK – In what the presidency sources described as routine consultations over the February 25 presidential election, President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, hosted the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.

The engagement, which was held before the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, took place at President Buhari’s official residence and explained the 40-minute delay in the commencement of FEC proceedings

Reports indicated that President Buhari arrived at the Council Chambers at around 10:40 am, about four minutes after the usual time of 10:00 am and the meeting with Tinubu is coming four days after the APC’s campaign rally at Eagle Square, Abuja.

Though reasons for the meeting were yet to be made public by the Presidency officials as at the time of filing this report, inside sources hinted that it might not be unconnected with the APC’s nationwide campaign, the election which is only 10 days away, and other prevailing national issues, including the Naira redesign

Another source stated that the President’s lateness to the FEC meeting was premised on his decision to monitor the outcome of the Supreme Court’s ruling against the federal government and the Central Bank of Nigeria on the latter’s new naira policy which has been adjourned to Wednesday, February 22.
