Tragedy As Lagos Lawmaker Slumps, Dies Attending APC Presidential Campaign Rally
BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – Tragedy struck in Jos on Tuesday as a lawmaker representing Mushin constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Sobur Olayiwola Olawale, slumped and died after attending the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off in the Plateau State capital.
Popularly called Omititi, the 58 years old lawmaker, who was Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government at the Assembly, reportedly died at the Jos Airport on his way back to Lagos from the APC campaign rally.
A statement by the Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Information, Strategy and Security, Hon. (Engr) Setonji David said; “It is with deep sadness, a sense of loss, and heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of our colleague and friend, Hon. Abdulsobur Olayiwola Olawale (alias OMITITI) representing Mushin Constituency 02 in the Lagos State House of Assembly who passed on today.
“Hon. Olawale was until his untimely demise the Chairman House Committee on Local Government and Community Relations, a second-term lawmaker, left us unexpectedly and threw the who House into mourning.
“This death really hit us below the belt. We will all miss him more than words can express. We urge you to join us in our prayers for his family at this time. Thank you.”
The deceased lawmaker, who Olawale represented Mushin Constituency between 2015 and 2022, recently participated in a novelty football match organised to celebrate the 50th birthday anniversary of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Mudashiru Obasa.
