Trouble In Delta APC As Another Chieftain Quits
- Describes the party as an ‘unending battlefield’ with no hope for respite
There is no denying that the festering crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State will not go away soon with another chieftain throwing in the towel and jettisoning his membership of the party.
Vice Chairman of the State chapter, APC Caretaker Committee, Chief George Okafor is the latest big fish to quit, citing his frustration at the intractable hiccups that continued to haunt the party over the years.
And in dumping the APC membership card, Chief Okafor said the decision to resign from the party was based on his inner convictions that the state APC has remained an unending battlefield without hope for respite.
According to him; “I hereby tender my resignation from the position of Chairman, APC Delta North Caretaker Committee effective today, Wednesday, June 22, 2021.
“By this notice, I also want to denounce my membership of the APC henceforth.”
Chief Okafor’s resignation letter was also copied to the Chairman, APC Ward 3, Caretaker Committee, Aniocha South Local Government Area of the State.
Earlier this month, the unending internal squabbles in the State chapter saw some APC members from Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State dumping the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Renouncing their APC membership, the former party loyalists were well received in Ogbeowele, Ibusa, by the Delta North Chairman of PDP, Chief Moses Iduh and other Party stalwarts in the area.
They were all assured of equal opportunities in PDP and urged to work faithfully for the party as the umbrella was big enough to accommodate everyone.
