…Commends DSS for arresting, prosecuting criminal elements

The President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Festus Osifo, has thrown his weight behind the position of the leadership of the Department of State Services (DSS) that terrorists, bandits and kidnappers, whose activities led to the loss of human lives, should be made to face the death penalty.

Osifo emphasised that such punishment would serve a deterrent to other criminal elements, saying; “When that is done, the other bad guys will know it is no longer business as usual”.

This was as he commended the leadership of the DSS for the arrest and prosecution of terrorists and bandits across the country.

Osifo noted that the arrests and prosecutions were sending the right signal to criminal elements terrorising communities nationwide.

He further said that when the terrorists and, bandits and kidnappers are arrested and prosecuted, they would get the clear message.

The TUC President urged the DSS to sustain the tempo of arrests and prosecutions, noting that citizens have a duty to hold government accountable on all fronts.

Osifo further said; “When government does wrong things, we condemn them. When they do positive things, we are also duty bound to commend them”.

The TUC boss particularly lauded the Director-General of the DSS, Mr. Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi, for what he described as visible ongoing reforms in the Service.

He urged the DSS Director General to do more in tackling insecurity across the country.
