Turaki’s Factional PDP Meets In Abuja

With stakeholders stepping up reconciliation efforts with the crisis-ridden Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the faction led by Tanimu Turaki National Working Committee, and Adolphus Wabara’s Board of Trustees (BOT), is holding today, Friday, 27th March 2026 at the Bauchi Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.

The meeting is the third this week, and matters concerning party, especially as they relate to the proposed national convention being planned by the Abdulrahman Mohamed-led caretaker committee, are said to take the centre stage of discussions.

Insiders confirmed that when a similar meeting took place on Wednesday, the Turaki-led group acknowledged they were open to reconciliation, just as he noted that talks were showing positive signs of getting a truce

The Abdulrahman Mohamed-led caretaker committee of the PDP, which is also backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, had insisted that they were open to reconciliation, and listed some conditions, which includes the that the planned convention for 29 and 30th march must hold.

Turaki, Wabara, former governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, former governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau, and a former minister, Jerry Gana, are among those presiding at this emergency NEC meeting.

In his opening remarks, Taminu Turaki informed the gathering that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has sent in an apology for his unavailability.

Assuring the gathering that the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed is being expected, the PDP factional Chairman also said that members would be briefed during a closed-door meeting about update on the reconciliation efforts within the opposition party.

According to him, all hope is not lost, assuring that the leadership was working seriously to ensure the PDP is on the ballot come 2027 general elections.
