Post-mortem holds today at National Hospital, Abuja
Peter, ‘secret’ wife carrying her baby, and others
BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – With the public eyes set on the post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of gospel music star, Osinachi Nwachukwu’s death, facts have emerged that her estranged husband, Peter Nwachukwu, had a ‘secret’ wife who bore him a child.
The post-mortem examination is slated for today, Wednesday, April 13, 2023, at the National Hospital, Abuja in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Unbelievable but true, Peter was married and kept it a ‘top secret’ from late Osinachi and her family all through their turbulent union.
Confirmed reports indicate that he wedded the said woman with whom he shares a romantic relationship in a church but hid the union away from the public eyes.
According to competent sources, the romance, which began before Peter sought the late gospel singer’s hands in marriage, had gone sour after the woman bore him a child.
A family insider hinted that the facts emerged when one of the children of the deceased gospel artiste found an old photo album hidden in his embattled father’s room.
The child, name withheld for obvious reasons, disclosed that their late mother always had suspicions about her husband having a secret affair, but sadly did not have any concrete evidence to prove it.
The child, who narrated how he eventually discovered the photo album that has now exposed his father’s long-kept secret, said: “One day, my father was away and forgot to lock up his room. So, I entered and a voice within told me to explore the room. Then, I saw the album and out of curiosity, I opened it and saw daddy’s old photographs.
“From the photos, I could see that my dad lived a wayward life. So, I closed the album and kept it where daddy hid it. I couldn’t tell mummy or anyone because I was very afraid that daddy will kill me if he found out that I knew about the photos.
“Mummy once tried searching for things like this (album) in daddy’s room, but could not find anything.”
Now, with the kid exposing the hidden album for the world to see, distraught family members of late Osinachi are still in shock knowing that their in-law, Peter was already a married man long before coming to seek their daughter’s hand in marriage about 10 years ago.
A family source is quoted by the Vanguard newspaper as saying; “We never knew Nwachukwu was previously married to another woman. If ever we knew about it prior to now, we may not have allowed Osinachi to marry him.
“Osinachi must have been through a lot of pains which she, unfortunately, kept away from us.”
The 42-year-old Osinachi, who was a lead singer at the Dunamis International Headquarters, Abuja, died last Friday after spending days at the National Hospital in Abuja and colleagues have accused her husband, Peter of beating her to death.
At present, Nwachukwu is cooling his feet in the Police cell over alleged culpable homicide (the crime of killing someone or causing their death but not intentionally).
