Upsurge In Murder Cases In Bauchi, As Police Arrest Husband, Co-wife And Farm Thieves Over Brutal Killings

BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – Operatives attached to the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested one Nuhu Umar Usman aged 40 years domiciled in Dangarfa village, Burra District of the state.

This was the Bauchi Police command also arrested one Amina Guguwa aged 50 years of Miya village for killing her co-wife.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect slept in the same room with his wife (now deceased) on the night of the incident.

The suspect has two wives and six children as it was gathered that there was an altercation between the wives, to the extent that the eldest son held grudges against the father and threatened to harm him.

Prior to the incident, the eldest son had threatened the father which made the suspect load his Dane gun and kept it beside him throughout the night waiting for the eldest son.

Further checks revealed that on December 28, 2022 at about 0200hrs while he was sleeping in the same room, his wife, Ladi Nuhu ‘aged 37 years, went out of the room to ease herself and on her way back to the room, the husband upon hearing suspicious move close to his room and fired at her in the stomach which inflicted grievous injuries on her.

She was rushed to the General Hospital, Burra, but later certified dead by a medical doctor.

Accordingly, the Commissioner of Police for the Bauchi State Command, CP Aminu Alhassan, directed that the suspect should be charged to court on completion of the investigation.

In a related development, the arrest of Amina Guguwa aged 50 years of Miya village for killing her co-wife followed the alleged strangling of Amina Koli aged 60 years of Miya town to death by her Amina after a physical confrontation.

The suspect, Amina Guguwa was alleged to had criminally used force on her co-wife thereby strangulated her neck which led to her death on the spot.

Upon report, a team of detectives were drafted to the scene where they evacuated the victim to the General Hospital, Kafin Madaki in Ganjuwa Local Government Area for a post-mortem examination where she was certified dead by a medical doctor.

The police said that investigation was still in progress after which the suspect will be charged to court.

In another development, the Bauchi Police command has arrested one Babangida Adamu aged 25 years alongside his accomplice, one Abubakar Adamu (AKA Ubale) aged 22 years of Papa hamlet in Darazo Local Government Area of the State.

It was gathered that on December 20,2022, Ibrahim Ahmadu aged 23 years went to spray insecticide on his father’s Sesame seed (Ridi) farm and was allegedly killed by Babangida Adamu and Abubakar Adamu.

Investigation so far revealed that on Monday evening, December 20, 2022, the suspects trespassed into the sesame seed (Ridi) farm with the intent to steal the farm produce.

After the suspects finished packing the farm produce and were about to pack it into the sack, the victim who was sent by his father to spray insecticide appeared on the farm, approached and confronted them (suspects).

The victim turned back on sighting the suspects busy packing their farm produce and the suspect (Ubale) then gripped the victim and told him to stop.

When the suspect stopped, Ubale (the suspect) asked the victim where he was going to and the victim said he will not spray the insecticide anymore since (the suspects) had already packed everything on the farm.

On hearing this, Ubale called his conspirator (Babangida) to kill the victim in order to avoid being apprehended and they started struggling with the victim.

In the process, Ubale (suspect) drew a knife which they found in possession of the victim, but Babangida has ambiguity whether to let the victim go or to kill him.

Ubale at that point said they should go ahead and kill the victim as no one was looking at them and went ahead to hold the legs of the victim while Babangida gripped the head and hands of the victim with his knee after which the pierced the victims neck region with the knife and cut off his throat.

The two suspects later abandoned the victim in a pool of his blood.

On receipt of the information, detectives attached to Darazo Police Divisional headquarter swung into action and arrested two suspects in connection with the case. The police said that all the arrested suspects confessed to their culpability in the commission of the crime.

While commiserating with the victim’s family, the Commissioner of Police CP Aminu Alhassan, directed that the suspects be charged to court on completion of the investigation.
