  • Indictments coming this week

Michael Sherwin, Acting United States Attorney investigating the violent breach of the US Capitol, said on Tuesday that indictments in the rioting case are expected before this week runs out.
So far, over 150 people have been arrested in connection with the January 6, 2021 insurrection, which left five people dead and obliged members of Congress, staff and press to be evacuated to safety.
According to Sherwin, authorities are still investigating the death of a Capitol police officer and the origin of pipe bombs found near the building.
Meanwhile, Congressman Tim Ryan, a Democrat of Ohio, has updated reporters after a conference call between lawmakers and Capitol Police about the security failures during the 6 January siege.

Tim Ryan tells reporters on Zoom presser that the order among Capitol Police on Jan. 6 was to not use lethal force unless lives were threatened, as was standard for USCP (he’d asked about it during this morning’s closed-door briefing)
