US Election Results: Trump Returns To White House As Harris Path Narrows
- We Made History’ – Trump

After winning the key battleground states of North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump is on the brink of making a shock return to the White House in a race where US democracy was on the line.
The projected wins in the first two battleground states called in the US presidential election have left his rival, Kamala Harris with a narrow path to the White House.
The Republican Party is also projected by Associated Press (AP) to win control of the Senate back as polls in the November 5 election closed across the country.
With reports indicating that voting was largely smooth, either Trump or Kamala Harris as candidate requires at least 270 Electoral votes to win the presidency. As things stand now, Donald Trump needs 22 electoral college votes to capture the presidency while Kamala Harris needs 56 electoral college votes to occupy the White House.
However, following Trump’s projected wins in North Carolina and Georgia, Democratic political strategist, Joi Chanei, says the path to victory for Harris has narrowed and she must now win Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania to take the White House
“We have to win some combination of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania – would also help to have Nevada – we need to have those states, there is no other way around it,” Chanei told reporters
According to her; “The thing that is disappointing and the reason why you have such long faces among Democrats [is that] we wanted it to be more of a blowout”
But regardless of who wins, the analyst says, Americans will have to deal with the fact that the country is deeply divided.
Chanei further said; “I am concerned over the health of a nation where there is such a diametric view on the path forward, no matter who wins tonight. That is something we are gonna continue to have to grapple with”.
US Election: ‘We Made History’ – Trump
On stage in West Palm Beach, Trump declared victory and pledged to bring a “golden age” to the United States.
“This was a movement like nobody’s ever seen before, and frankly, this was, I believe, the greatest political movement of all time. There’s never been anything like this in this country, and maybe beyond,” Trump said.
“And now it’s going to reach a new level of importance because we’re going to help our country. We’ll help our country … we have a country that needs help, and it needs help very badly. We’re going to fix our borders. We’re going to fix everything about our country. And we made history for a reason tonight, and the reason will be just that we overcame obstacles that nobody thought possible. It is now clear that we’ve achieved the most incredible political thing.”
“I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president and 45th president, and every citizen, I will fight for you, your family, and your future. Every single day, I will be fighting for you, and with every breath in my body, I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe, and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve. This will truly be the golden age of America. – With The Guardian reports
