Uzodinma Wins 2nd Term As Imo Governor
BY ONYEKACHUKWU IBEZIM – The incumbent Governor of Imo State and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Hope Uzodinma, has been declared the winner of the November 11 governorship election in the state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which announced the poll results on Sunday, said that Governor Uzodinma polled a total of 540,308 votes to be re-elected as the occupant of the Imo State Government House for a second term.
According to the INEC’s declaration, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Sam Anyanwu, scored 71,503 votes to come second while Athan Achonu of the Labour Party (LP) placed third in the election with 64,081 votes.
Returning Officer for the Imo State Governorship Election and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Professor Abayomi Fashina, who announced the result, said Uzodinma scored the highest number of valid votes cast and therefore returned elected for a second term in office.
The breakdown of all the results showed that Governor Uzodimma won in all the 27 local government areas of the state where the November 11, 2023 gubernatorial poll.
