Vanguard Editor, Eze Anaba Emerges NGE President
BY ONYEKACHUKWU IBEZIM – The Editor of Vanguard Media Limited, Mr Eze Anaba, has been elected the new President of Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE).
At the ongoing 2023 National Biennial Convention of the Guild in Owerri, the Imo State capital, Anaba polled 250 votes to defeat his only opponent, Bolaji Adebiyi of the Western Post newspaper.
Adebiyi, formerly of Thisday Newspapers, was credited with 81 votes in the exercise.
Over 331 NGE members are participating in the conference whose theme is: “Post 2023 Election: Promoting Professionalism for Enhancement of Democracy and Good Governance”.
Before his election, Anaba was the Social and Publicity Secretary of NGE and he takes over from the immediate past President, Mr Mustspha Isa of the Silverbird Group.
Mr Anaba holds a Master’s degree in Communication from Leicester University, UK, and at various times served as the Deputy Editor, Saturday Editor, Senior Deputy News Editor, and Law and Human Rights Editor of the Vanguard newspaper.
Widely travelled and also on the boards of some leading human rights groups in the country, the new NGE President brings to the table a robust media management experience and huge contacts in the public and private sectors
