We’ll Rescue Kidnapped Chinese Construction Worker And Driver – Gov. Ishaku Assures

BY AMEH IDUJAGI, JALINGO – Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State has assured that his government in collaboration with security agents are making frantic efforts to secure the release of a Chinese national and his driver that were abducted five days ago in Donga Local Government Area of the state.

Governor Ishaku, who gave the assurance while flagging off the construction of Maraban-Baissa-Abong road project on Friday, said the government has commenced discussions with the abductors, adding that the victim will soon regain their freedom.

The Chinese expatriate handling the road project and his driver were abducted at a Quarry near Mararaba Baissa by unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on November 23, 2020.

Ishaku urged the staff of the construction company not to be deterred by the unfortunate incident, promising that adequate security has been provided them.

The governor charged Donga community to ensure the security of the workers of the construction company and their equipment in order to facilitate speedy completion of the road project.

He explained that the project is a trunk ‘A’ Federal road but the state government decided to embark on the construction of the road owing to its viability and to ease the sufferings of the people of the area.

Ishaku said; “As you can see, the road is vital to economic and social development of the area, especially the Mambilla Hydro-power project which the road, when completed will provide access road to the hydro power project.
