- Salutes aspirants for unity, spirit of reconciliation
BY EDMOND ODOK – President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji on his emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Osun State governorship election holding in 2026.
Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State chaired the party’s primary election held on Saturday in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, with party delegates unanimously affirming Oyebamiji’s sole candidature.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga, the President said the journey to reclaim the state in 2026 for the progressive has just begun.
President Tinubu, who praised the Osun State APC for the unity and spirit of reconciliation that preceded and also permeated the primary election conducted through affirmation, lauded all the aspirants who graciously stepped down in favour of Oyebamiji.
Noting that their actions demonstrate party loyalty and a collective commitment to the APC’s ideals, the President urged Asiwaju Oyebamiji to be magnanimous in victory by embracing all party leaders and former aspirants.
He also charged him to ensure inclusivity and cohesion as the party moves forward in the political process towards next year’s poll.
The statement by Bayo Onanuga quoted the President as saying: “The journey to reclaim Osun State for the progressive fold in the 2026 governorship election has begun.
“I urge all members and leaders of APC in the state to remain focused, united, and resolute. Victory is achievable, and together, we will succeed.”
