We’ve Developed Template To Check Rape Cases – Nasarawa State Govt. Says
BY AHMED TUKUR, LAFIA – The Nasarawa State government on Monday said that it has developed a template aimed at checking the menace of the high rate of rape cases in the society.
Towards this end, the State government said it has concluded plans of partnering with the Nigeria Youth Council (NYC) and other Youth groups towards tackling the increasing menace of rape in the state.
The State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Othman Adams, who announced these while chatting with journalists Lafia, said the ministry in collaboration with relevant stakeholders would engage youths in a door to door sensitization on how to ensure that those behind the crime are identified and brought to book and to avoid future occurrences.
Adams said; “The rising cases of rape and other social vices in the community is very disturbing and alarming. So, we have develop a template to check the vices using our youth groups.
“We will also collaborate with the Ministry of Women Affairs to set up a high powered committee that will be advising government appropriately as things on fold, so that we keep a tab on available data and relevant information to check the vices”.
The commissioner said that the sensitization will be taken to the hinterland for the locals to also have knowledge on the ills such acts can cause to the next generation.
In the words of Adams; “We won’t allow our incoming generation to be used as a tool by criminal elements to dislodge our society of our respected norms because of their selfish and devilish interest”.
