We’ve Uncovered Plans By Al-Makura To Hack Into INEC’s Data Base – Nasarawa PDP
BY BABA AHMED, LAFIA – The Nasarawa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said that it has uncovered plans by Governor Umaru Al-makura-led government to hack into the data base of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in order rig the general elections.
Addressing a press conference in Lafia, the state PDP chairman, Mr. Francis Orogu said that Al-makura has lost ground and therefore desperately looking for ways to rig the process.
He said Al-makura recruited some government officials to manipulate results in Government House through the use of an internet centre tagged “command centre” to hack into INEC’s data base.
Orogu said that the PDP has been informed that the state government has in the last week been involved in the thumb printing of ballot papers in Government House that will be taken to targeted Local Government Areas of the state, adding however that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agents have been informed of the development and asked to investigate in order to have free, fair, transparent and credible elections.
The PDP chairman said the party is aware that the “so-called” command centre is being handled by one Hamza Elayo adding that it is to be used for already thumb printed ballot papers during elections.
Orogu also accused APC of recruiting unemployed youths to destabilise the voting process during the elections, adding that Al-makura is desperately scheming to illegally win election by all means having realized that he no longer has followership or support base in the state.
While commending INEC for rejecting the stage- managed protest embarked upon by the youth, Orogu also urge the Commission to ensure free, fair and credible elections in the state.
He said; “INEC must not allow it to be manipulated in the forthcoming election as there are plans to manipulate ad-hoc staff in the state.”
Reacting to the PDP’s allegations, the state chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Philip Shekwo dismissed the claims, saying that it is the normal antics of the PDP to cry foul.
Shekwo said the APC is on the ground to win its election without any manipulation knowing that the people are with us.
He said; “We are focused and will surely win our election. So, it’s the antics of the PDP to make such claims.”
