Whatever Wike Does, PDP Will Win In 2023 – Senator Ekpenyong
Former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State and present lawmaker representing Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District, Senator Chris Ekpenyong has said that whatever Governor Nyesome Wike of Rivers State wants to do against his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will win the presidential election in 2023.
He said that if Governor Wike has any misgiving, he hasn’t deem it fit to tell the South-South caucus of the party.
This was as he posited that he is yet to see how Governor Wike will tell all PDP members in Rivers State not to vote for Atiku as well as convince the people of Delta State not to vote for their son.
He therefore asked if Governor Wike will be going with the governorship and National Assembly candidates of the PDP in Rivers State in the new arrangement he is making.
Senator Ekpenyong pointedly said that Wike cannot be speaking for the South-south geo-political zone of the country that has secured the vice presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stressing the aggrieved governor of Rivers State should tell the zone what he wants and not trying to pull down the roof.
Ekenyong particularly noted that Wike is yet to make his demands public, adding that he also tried to reach out to Prof Jerry Gana on Friday and other founding fathers of the PDP over the Wike saga to enable him know and understand what he (Wike) really wants.
In the words of Ekpenyong; “I am from the South-South where Wike comes from and he has been saying the South has nothing in PDP. That is not true. We have a vice presidential candidate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who is from Delta State.
“PDP is strong in Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo and Rivers. I have called Prof Jerry Gana and asked him what Wike wants and he said he doesn’t know.
“I don’t see how Wike can come to my senatorial district and tell people not to vote for PDP. If he has bargained with Tinubu, he hasn’t bargained with me.
“In the new arrangement he is making, is he going to move with the governorship candidate of PDP in Rivers State? Is he also moving with the National Assembly members from Rivers?
“Does he want Okowa to step down so that he would be happy? I am in the Senate and I know he nominated those who would go to the Senate and didn’t give form to some to return.
“Even when Chief Bode George said the party hasn’t been fair to the South, is Okowa not from the South? Let us win the election and share offices afterwards. Let us win the war first,” he said.
Ekpenyong further said that whatever Wike wants to do, the PDP will win the presidential election in 2023, adding that there is something WIke wants that members of the party don’t know.
