Benue State Governor, Rev Fr, Hyacinth Alia has declared that the 2026 May Day is as an opportunity to celebrate the Benue workers, and to also highlight their importance in his administration’s efforts to transform the state and positively impact the lives of the people.
This was as Governor Alia commended workers in the state and Nigeria at large for their immense contributions, which he noted saw the state witness transformation in key sectors.
Alia described them as important stakeholders in the implementation of his administration’s seven-point development plan, SACHIIP, which stands for,
1) Security of Lives and Property
2) Agriculture and Rural Development
3) Commerce and Industry
4) Human Capital and Social Development
5) Infrastructure and Environment
6) Information & Communications Technology (ICT)
7) Political and Economic Governance
The Governor also said that workers’ welfare remains a necessity for better performance, and assured that his administration will continue to accord the welfare of the workers in the state a major priority.
He also assured that his administration will implement friendly policies that will enhance their welfare and boost their capacity.
Alia praised the labour Unions in Benue in particular for their cooperation and support, which he noted has enhanced workers’ productivity.
