…Recognises Aguma as Rivers State APC chairman

BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) rose from a crucial meeting at the Party’s National Secretariat on Wednesday, saying that due to the unavoidable absence of its Acting National Chairman, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, its members unanimously appointed the Party’s National Vice Chairman (South South), Prince Hilliard Etta to act on Senator Ajimobi’s behalf.

The Party said that its action is backed by the APC’s constitution Section 14.2 (iii) which empowers the NWC to appoint one of its members in acting capacity and stipulates that the acting National chairman must be from the zone of the National Chairman.

The party also said that it noted the recent ruling of a High Court which declared Hon. Igo Aguma as the Party’s Acting chairman in Rivers State, adding that in compliance with the court ruling, it has recognised Aguma as Rivers State Acting Chairman pending when new congresses will be held to elect party executive members at the Ward, Local Government and State levels.

A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr Lanre Issa-Onilu stated that 16 members of the NWC physically attended the meeting held at the Party’s National Secretariat while three others joined the meeting online.
