Why Jonathan Must Reciprocate Ndigbo Gesture In 2023, Else… – Ohanaeze

The Igbo apex socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has declared that the Igbo spirit will be against former President Goodluck Jonathan if he fails to support the realisation of a president of Igbo extraction in 2023.

The organisation said that the suffering of Igbo people under the administration President Muhammadu Buhari was as a result of the support they gave Jonathan.

National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Alex Ogbonnia, who stated the position of Ndigbo while commenting on the report that former President Jonathan on December 27, 2021 met with South-South leaders coordinating his reported plan to contest the 2023 presidency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said that the totality of the Igbo spirit will be against him and he must realise it.

Ogbonnia specifically said that Jonathan is expected to support the Igbo as part of spiritual reciprocity for the kind gesture the Igbos extended to him.

Reports indicate that some northern governors of the All Progressives Congress are plotting former President Jonathan’s return to the Presidency in 2023 to assuage the South and primarily to enable the North return to power after four years.

Commenting on the development, Ohanaeze Ndigbo spokesman declared that whatever suffering the Igbo people are experiencing under President Buhari was basically as a result of the support we gave Jonathan. He should realise it. That is the Ohanaeze Ndigbo position and by extension Igbo position.”
