Former Vice President and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate in the February 25 elections, Atiku Abubakar, has explained that ‘Sadiq Abubakar’ was the name used by him to sit for the final Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE).

In dismissing the emerging controversy over alleged discrepancies trailing his School certificate that bears ‘Sadiq Abubakar’ compared to his other credentials, the Wazirin Adamawa said on Tuesday that the clarification became necessary given allegations of forgery being peddled by members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)

The former Vice President, who spoke through one of his aides, Chief Dele Momodu, noted that amid the certificate saga involving President Bola Tinubu’s academic records recently released by the Chicago State University (CSU) in the United States, some APC members, in defending the President’s credentials, accused Atiku of forging his certificate.

Momodu, who wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account, explained that Atiku officially swore an affidavit after passing the examinations that he wrote with the said name.

According to Momodu; “The APC busybodies have been bombarding me with allegations of forgery against my Principal, ALHAJI ATIKU ABUBAKAR (GCON), which I immediately forwarded to him and here is his copious response: ‘Yes I used Sadiq Abubakar to sit for my WAEC and after passing my exams I went to swear an affidavit to say I am the same person as ATIKU Abubakar. I went to ABU as Atiku Abubakar and passed my Exams as Atiku Abubakar. Interviewed as Atiku Abubakar by the Federal Civil Service Commission and hired into the Customs Service as Atiku Abubakar. So where is forgery there?’ – ATIKU ABUBAKAR

“CAN THE APC social media bullies forward the deluge of questions in circulation to their boss and get instant and direct response…? I SALUTE ALHAJI ATIKU ABUBAKAR”, Chief Momodu said
