Wike Prepares List Of New LG Administrator For Ibas – Asari Dokubo Alleges

Chief Asari Dokubo, who is the Da-Amakiri Tubo and Amanyanabo of the Elem Kalabari Kingdom, has said that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has prepared and ready to submit a list of new Administrators for the Local Government Areas in Rivers State to the sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (retd), to announce.

Dokubo in a viral video claimed that the names of handpicked local government administrators have already been compiled, thereby raising fears of an orchestrated attempt to subvert the will of the people.

He warned that such an undemocratic action could further plunge the local government system into more crisis as well as setting a dangerous precedent for an executive overreach.

Dokubo also alleged that the Administrator, Admiral Ibas (retd), is planning to announce the new Council Administrators in spite of the clear provisions of the Constitution and the judgement of the Supreme Court that voids non-elected representatives at the Third tier of government.

The Supreme Court specifically upheld the autonomy of local governments in the country.

It was also gathered that the move to appoint new administrators for the local government Councils in Rivers State has raised serious concerns over the erosion of democratic processes and principles.

Dokubo said that if implemented, the plan would not only defy the Supreme Court’s judgement but, would clearly demonstrate an affront on the democratic rights of the Rivers State people.

In a viral video online, Dokubo also alleged that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike has captured the presidency and has gone ahead to prepare a list of his loyalists as appointees for Ibas.

Dokubo also claimed that Wike has equally captured the judiciary and security agencies, adding however, that the Ijaw people are restraining themselves from fighting back because of the danger the former governor is inviting.

In the words of Dokubo; “If the Ijaw people are allowed, it will embolden the Southeast and spiral out of control”.
