Wikki Tourists Sack Coach Azeez Audu Over Poor Performance

BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – Management of Bauchi State owned Wikki Tourists Football Club on Monday sacked the team’s Technical Adviser, Coach Azeez Audu over reported poor performance.

The Club’s decision to part ways with Coach Audu was conveyed in a press statement circulated to Sports Writers late Monday evening by the Management through its Media Officer.

According to the statement; “Management of Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi wishes to inform the public and our esteemed supporters that, after careful considerations and review of our season, the Club has decided to terminate the contract of our Technical Adviser (Head Coach), Mr. Azeez Audu, effective and immediately.

“This decision comes as a result of Mr Azeez Audu’s inability to meet the performance targets set by the Club at the beginning of the season.

“As a Club with high ambitions and a commitment to excellence, we must take decisive action to ensure we are on track to achieve our goals”.

However, the Management further said; “We appreciate Mr Azeez Audu for his contributions during his tenure and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

The Management explained that; “In the interim, the Club’s Chief Coach, Bashir Saleh will take over the responsibilities of Head Coach while we initiate the search for a permanent replacement.”

Also stressing that the management remains “confident in the support of our fans”, the statement added; “The Club is determined to overcome the current challenges and continue to strive for success.Thank you for your understanding and continued support.”

Forefront News recalls that Wikki Tourists were relegated to the second tier of Nigeria’s football league at the end of last season.

Unfortunately, their efforts to have an immediate return to the elite pack in the ongoing season proved unsuccessful after they finished in third place on the log.

Also, the Club suffered further mishap as they crashed out of the Federation Cup competition in the round of 16 to effectively end the season on an empty note, a development that angered the management and fans alike.
