According to reports, Florence, who hailed from Michika Local Government Area, took her life by drinking a locally-made, but highly poisonous substance suspected to be ‘Otapiyapiya’ (an insect killer).

Meanwhile, findings indicated that the late Florence, a resident of Viniklang in Girei Local Government Area, may have decided on suicide as a way of protesting the death of her boyfriend, Nuhu Boniface, who gave up the ghost in one of the local hospitals where he was being treated for an undisclosed ailment.

While confirming the incident, Adamawa Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Nguroje, said a report regarding the unfortunate development was received on December 12, 2023, and that the Police’s investigation is ongoing to unravel the actual cause of death.

The Command Spokesman also stated that the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Afolabi Babatola, has expressed regret over the tragic event.

However, he said the Police boss has cautioned members of the public to always be circumspect and refrain from unwarranted actions that could lead to avoidable deaths.

CP Babatola also advised people against taking the law into their own hands while reporting any suspicious movements around their neighbourhoods to the police for prompt response.
