Woman Sets Ablaze Newly-married Co-Wife

For allegedly setting ablaze a newly-married co-wife, a woman in Niger State is currently in Police net to account for her crime.

Aged 24, the suspect, Amina Aliyu, is reported to have visited the house of the deceased, beat her to death with a pestle, set her body on fire before locking up the house and leaving the scene.

The Nation learnt that Fatima was killed about two months after getting married to Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi, who is also married to Amina.

The incident happened in the Sauka Kahuta area of Minna, the Niger state capital.

According to family sources, the two women lived apart in an arrangement that was convenient for their husband.

Police spokesman Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect hit the deceased with a pestle which led to her instant death.

Abiodun quoted the husband, Abdullahi as saying he only returned home from work on Tuesday to find his new wife’s lifeless body in her living room.

Abdullahi reportedly told the police that on closely examining the scene, he discovered part of his wife’s body was burnt. – With the Nation reports
